Harald

Jarl of the Norse. Thirteen years old.

Harald grew up as the son of Jarl Ivar and Ygritte. He was in the room the night Ivar knocked his mother to the floor. A few hours later the things from the Pit dragged her away.

He was in the council chamber when the Blood Elves came through the doors. Ivar went down wounded. Balder put a blade to the old man's throat, found he could not use it, and turned away. Harald could. The blade went through Ivar's chest from behind, clean and expert, and the boy stood over him wiping the steel with his voice shaking. You are not my father. Then he turned on The Speaker, and stood with the party until the Speaker was dead.

That made him Jarl. Balder left the party to be his Steward and Advisor, and to keep a boy-jarl's people from scattering. They scattered anyway. The Norse are no longer one tribe, and only the rivertowns of Yorvik and Cattegut still answer his call.

He walked into the ruined sanctum after Hannah died, trying to stand like a Jarl, and had one minute of victory before The Guild took him with the rest. In the cells Yennen begged him to give up Hammerfall. Harald heard him out and gave him no answer he could carry back. Balder has told him what he thinks: let the city go and come home to Yorvik.
