Ivar Varangr

Ivar the Terrible. Jarl of the Norsemen. Pact representative. Dead.

Ivar was Jarl of the Norse town of Cattegut. From there he united the Norse tribes north of Hammerfall into a single host, allied with Orgrim, and helped take the city from the elves. He sat on The Pact for the Norse.

He took what he wanted on the way up. When Balder, Jarl of little Yorvik, came home with a bride from the raids he had joined Cattegut on, Ivar and his men beat him down and carried her off. Ygritte was Ivar's wife from then on.

By the time the party met him he was an old moustachioed man who drank. He came home from the council drunk, threw filth at Ygritte, and when she slapped him he knocked her to the floor in front of their son. That same night the things from the Pit took her.

His rule ended in the council chamber, in session 1.7.1. When the Blood Elves came through the doors he went down wounded, crying for help. Balder led the party to him, put a blade to his throat, and could not do it. He turned away. Then a blade came through Ivar's chest from behind, clean and expert, and Harald stood over him wiping the steel.
