Rethra'kael
Among the elves of Valkair, Rethra’kael is a name spoken only in fear and disgust. It refers to those whose blood has been defiled by the Fiend Below, Osgilliath, bound through sacrifice, demonic pacts, and profane rebirth. They are not merely corrupted elves, but fallen kin who have drunk of forbidden power and been remade by it.
The acolytes recount that the first of the Rethra’kael were born when Hannah the Forsaken offered her own body and blood upon a bleeding altar deep beneath Hammerfall. Her death and rebirth forged a lineage of blood-drinkers — warriors and cultists who consume her tainted essence, gaining unnatural strength, resilience, and longevity, while surrendering their will to the whispering depths.
Their name is whispered in terror. It is the fear of a living death — of an elf returning home demented and deformed, driven by a hunger for demon blood, compelled to slaughter and devour their own family and loved ones. To speak the word Rethra’kael aloud is to invite nightmares, for it means that what was once kin now walks as a monster.
