1.4.05 - Price of rebellion¶
You went to carry words to the Pact, and the Pact answered first, with soldiers.
Before your demands could be delivered, the Pact made its own reply. Soldiers armed for war marched into the distribution centre with no parley. Elves who resisted were cut down, elves who did not were shackled and dragged off, blood in the gutters and incantations dying in elven throats. It was not lawkeeping. It was extermination, and it did not care whether you were old, young, or crippled.
So the fight for the Shallows began in earnest, street by street and block by block. You threw yourselves into the Ember Chain and got every last elf out of the Pact's grip, families pulled back together out of the slaughter. Three of the saved stood out, and others began to rally to them: Aelion Varethil, a weathered war-commander; Theren Silquar, calm and arcane-blooded; and Vaelen Duskthorn, fire-eyed, carrying the will of the gods. The map was grim. For every block you reclaimed the Pact took two. But the elves had banners to stand under now.
Remember For Next Time¶
- The Pact chose extermination: no negotiation, just soldiers. Every elf is the enemy to them, regardless of age.
- Three leaders saved: Aelion Varethil (war-commander), Theren Silquar (arcane), Vaelen Duskthorn (Siraen Valar devout). The elves are rallying behind them.
- A war of inches: you can win ground, but the Pact takes more. This will not be won in a single push.
Where We Are¶
Holding a foothold in the Shallows with the elves rallied behind three rescued leaders, the Pact pressing on every side.
