1.4.06 - Tug of War¶
The war became a contest of hilltops, and you took the one that mattered with a horn and a hard fight.
In the elven war council, Aelion, Theren, and Vaelen argued the next move: press the Pact while you still had surprise, or fortify and let more elves flee to safety behind your lines. With their people lending strength to your efforts, you went for the throat of the terrain. The crossroads on the plateau in the middle of the Shallows, high ground that would let whoever held it stage and defend.
You took it. The Sentinel Horn sang false threats across the district and pulled Pact skirmishers off in the wrong direction, and you charged the line and broke it. The fight was close, blade on shield and rune on steel, but you held the hill, and dozens more elves slipped past the Pact's grip to your sanctuary while you did. Somewhere in the middle of it, at long last, Hanzt shook the filth fever for good.
Remember For Next Time¶
- The crossroads is yours: you hold the strategic high ground in the Shallows now, which makes taking the rest easier.
- The Sentinel Horn earns its keep: you used it to misdirect the Pact and win the hill.
- Hanzt is cured: the filth fever is finally gone.
Where We Are¶
